Gianluca Stocco, with a degree in Chemistry from Padua, is the fulcrum of Normachem.
Chemistry has always been the center of his professional interest. It all started with his first "on the job" experience as an engineer. From 1997 to 2004, Stocco entered the employ of a major chemical company as the Research and Development Manager and later in the Quality and Safety Office. In these positions, he represented the company in meetings with the public institutions in charge of safety and hygiene in the workplace, as well as with the competent local, provincial, regional, and national authorities on complex issues regarding the actions that were required in the plant. In this same period, Stocco became the head of the Technical Committee at UNIONCHIMICA, and was responsible for the definition of the positions and strategies for small and mid-sized Italian chemical companies on important topics regarding the environment and safety, both on a national and European level.
In 2005, Stocco moved to Milan to join the APIMILANO Association as the Environment-Safety & Quality Service and Training Manager. In this guise, he actively cooperated with not only chemical companies, but also chemical users in the area around Milan, in addition to developing tighter relations with local, national, and European institutions. He left this position in 2007 to found Normachem.
Furthermore, for a number of years Stocco was the Technical Manager of the "Paints, Solvents, Adhesives, and Inks" market at UNIONCHIMICA.
These responsibilities, call them "institutional", allowed him to extend his knowledge about national and European norms on the Environment and Safety, melding knowledge with important relationships within organizations of nationally (the Ministry for the Environment, Territory and Sea, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Health, and the National Institute of Health) and on a European (Commissions, Parliament) reference.
At that time, Stocco expanded his training in safety of hazardous chemicals and preparations. Last, but not least, he gained considered knowledge about the work of targeted continuous training, as well as the major laws that regulate the management of national-European funds for training.
