REACH
REACH is the European Regulation n. 1907/2006 for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals relating to the management of substances, including their safe use.
The REACH Regulation was created with the aim of improving the protection of human health and the environment through better knowledge of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances, involving manufacturers, importers and users. For example, one of the most important obligations for manufacturers and importers is to register every substance manufactured or imported, providing the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) with an array of information on the physico-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of substances.
Therefore, all companies that manufactor, import or distribute chemicals are subject to this Regulation, to avoid incurring heavy administrative penalties and the non-marketing of their products. In fact, the supply chain is becoming more and more demanding and watchful by the day (including end consumers) concerning the safety of chemical products and respective legal compliance.
