Precursor of Narcotic or Psychotropic Substances
The term, "precursors of narcotic or psychotropic substances", refers to certain chemicals, which are normally used in many industrial and pharmaceutical processes in an entirely legal manner, but which can also play an important role in the production and illegal preparation of narcotics.
The legislation subdivides precursors, currently under control, into four categories and provides different obligations depending on the category to which they belong.
All companies involved in the manufacture, processing, trading or distribution of classified substances are subject to certain obligations, providing for a series of registrations, licences or authorisations which are necessary for importing and exporting the products involved.
The legislation also provides for the obligation of annual reporting to the Ministry of Health regarding transactions involving certain categories.
