- Tris(2-methoxyethoxy)vinylsilane is used in plastics, sealants, and rubbers;
- 7,7-trimethyl-3-[(4-methylphenyl)methylene]bicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-one, in the form of single isomers (±) or as a combination (4-MBC), is commonly used in cosmetics;
- the phosphorodithioates listed in the table as "S-(tricyclo(5.2.1.02,6)deca-3-en-8(or 9)-yl O-(isopropyl or isobutyl or 2-ethylhexyl) phosphorodithioate" are mainly used in lubricants and greases.
It is necessary to keep monitored regulatory developments associated with these substances which, in the future, may be included in Annex XIV of the REACH Regulation, and shall possibly require authorisation for use.
Including substances in the Candidate List forces article’s suppliers to monitor their presence in articles placed on the European market and to comply with the communication obligations according to Article 33 of REACH, to ensure transparency and product safety.
Articles producers and importers are also obliged to notify a Candidate List substance contained in articles (art. 7. 2 REACH Regulation), if the annual import volume exceeds 1 tonne, and if the substance is present in a concentration > 0.1% w/w.
As of 5th January 2021, articles’ suppliers must notify to ECHA, through SCIP notification, articles containing Candidate List substances in concentrations above 0.1% w/w (according to Dir. (EU) 2018/851). For these substances, the obligations according to Article 33 of REACH apply from 17/01/2022 (or from the first placing on the market of the article after 17/01/2022). Finally, there is a period of 6 months to comply with the notification obligations according to Article 7.2 of REACH.
